VDIM (Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management) is an integrated technology, with which the dynamic parameters of the vehicle can be controlled. It is used in Toyota and Lexus models. In 2004, it was first used on the Toyota Crown Majesta. This improves the vehicle's handling, off-road capability and maneuverability.
How VDIM works
VDIM optimizes the operation of various driver assistance systems, such as anti-lock brakes, traction control, vehicle dynamics control and brake force distribution systems, as well as electric power steering and other systems. For this purpose, the speed of each wheel, the position of the brake and accelerator pedals, the steering wheel angle, the pressure in the brake system and also the vehicle's yaw rate are continuously monitored. This information can be used to assess the situation on the road. The probability that the vehicle deviates from the intended direction of travel is reduced to a minimum by the VSC and EPS systems.
TRC is activated as soon as wheel slip is detected. The emergency brake assistant (BA) is activated with a short hard press on the brake pedal. The ABS system prevents the wheels from locking.
Popular cars with VDIM
- Lexus IS III, IV, GS III, IV, LS IV, V, RX II, III, IV
- Toyota Camry VI, Highlander II, III, Sienna III
Causes of defects
