How to keep your automatic transmission from overheating | CarTipsandmore

 4 simple tips

  • Replace transmission oil and filter in good time. Change the automatic transmission fluid and consumables at the intervals specified in the manufacturer's service manual.
  • Only use oils that recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Visually inspect the automatic transmission every two months. This helps to detect leaks in time and to keep the oil pressure at the right level.
  • Clean the heat exchanger regularly. Have it cleaned in a workshop every time you have the automatic transmission oil changed.

What happens if your transmission overheats?

  • Oxidation of the oil.
Oxidized transmission oil can no longer achieve the required level of lubrication, anti-wear protection, anti-locking and anti-oxidation and can therefore no longer protect the parts of your car from wear.
  • Carbon deposits on car parts.
High temperatures lead to the formation of carbon deposits, which impair the function of valves and solenoids and clog oil passages.
  • Oil leaks.
Rubber elements of the gearbox harden at high temperatures.
Leaking internal connections can lead to pump failure, a reduction in oil pressure in the system and poor operation of the entire unit lead.
  • Deformed valve body.
A ver molded valve body cannot be repaired and must be replaced.
