6 steps to check the Engine oil level
- Park your car on level ground.
- Turn off the engine and wait 10-15 minutes. That's how long it takes for the oil to collect in the oil pan.
- Take a clean, light-colored cloth.
Please note! Readings may be inaccurate if you check the oil level after the vehicle has been parked for a long period of time, especially in cold weather. - Pull out the oil dipstick and wipe it dry.
Caution! Do not use too much force when removing and inserting the dipstick, or you may damage it. - Then insert the clean dipstick until it stops and pull it out again.
- Check the dipstick carefully. The film of oil on it shows your engine's oil level. The end of the oil film should be between the “min” and “max” lines.
Some dipsticks have additional markings such as “hot” and “cold”. These are used to indicate the normal level of lubrication when the engine is hot or cold.
Note: When the engine oil has turned black, the oil and oil filter should be changed.
