HiVec H-matic transmission: essential information, types, features and technical parameters

HiVec H-matic is an adaptive gearbox and has a manual control function that many Hyundai models are equipped with. It is based on a standard automatic transmission fitted with a 4, 5 or 6-speed hydraulic torque converter. The adaptive function allows maximum adjustment of transmission operation, improvement of vehicle dynamics, fast gear changes, improvement of driving safety and reduction of fuel consumption.

How HiVec H-matic works

To switch to manual mode, place the shift lever in the special position labeled “Sport Mode”. Push the selector lever to “+” to shift to a higher gear and to “-” to shift to a lower gear. The driver can skip a gear by briefly pressing the selector lever twice in the “-” position. Manual steering makes the vehicle sportier, offers better road holding and dynamic performance in certain maneuvers, and improves performance on slippery surfaces.
