A-TRAC is an active traction control system for a range of four-wheel drive vehicles -Toyota models. It improves the car's traction when driving off-road and helps restore grip when the wheels spin.

How it works
The speed of the tires is analyzed using the ABS sensors. As soon as one of the wheels slips, the system uses the ABS hydraulic unit and the brakes to slow that wheel down. This increases the torque at the opposite wheel. This allows the vehicle to easily handle difficult off-road driving. The wheel in question is braked until traction is restored.
If necessary, this system can be activated and deactivated with a button on the center console. A corresponding indicator light will illuminate on the dashboard when it is activated.
