2-Tronic is an automated 5-speed gearbox, which was fitted to a number of Peugeot models from 2005 onwards. It has a manual control mode and can adapt to the driver's individual driving style.
How 2-Tronic works
The 2-Tronic gearbox is based on a manual gearbox equipped with two electromechanical devices controlled by a computer. One of these is used for gear selection and the other for engaging and disengaging the clutch. To shift into manual mode, the driver moves the shift lever to the “M” position and then to the “+” or “-” position to shift up or down a gear. In this mode, the transmission can also be controlled using shift paddles.
