1st place: The Renault Zoe

This vehicle is usually a convertible version, because only this is currently offered with an electric motor. This car achieves a maximum of 320 kilometers per charging cycle of the 42 kWh battery, with the drive unit achieving an output of 118 hp. Even the series model offers a quick charging option with the help of a CCS plug. The charging power can then be a maximum of 85 kW, which allows the battery to be charged to around 80% in just over half an hour. In comparison, the charging capacity via classic AC columns is only a maximum of 11 kW.

This small and agile electric vehicle has a battery with only 32.3 kWh. Nevertheless, he can drive up to a maximum of 260 km. This car convinces primarily with a particularly low price of under 22,000 €. Especially in the city, the e-up! shows its advantages and achieves an engine output of 83 hp. This makes it one of the most attractive electric cars currently on the market.
4th place: The Honda-e
A maximum of four passengers can ride in these cute little cars. We particularly recommend this Japanese model as a second vehicle. Although it is a compact vehicle, it still has four doors, making it easy to get in. Interestingly, the classic side mirrors have been left out on this vehicle, so cameras are used to project an image into the interior. A digital rear-view mirror that displays images from a rear camera is also available. One charge of the 35 kWh battery is enough for a maximum of 222 kilometers.

5th place: The Peugeot e-208
This car is a very dynamic vehicle. This already accounts for the sleek exterior of this four to five-seater. In addition to the electric variant, four different combustion engines are also available. In the trunk there is space for 265 or 1106 liters of luggage. The torque of the 136 hp electric motor reaches a maximum of 260 Nm – a very decent value. With a battery capacity of 50 kWh, you can drive a maximum of 340 kilometers before this battery has to be recharged.
6th place: The BMW i3
This vehicle model for a maximum of four people is comparatively expensive to purchase. The model was developed from scratch and not, as is often the case, simply installed an electric motor in a classic vehicle model. This offers unbeatable advantages, for example through the consistent use of particularly light materials. On the other hand, the trunk volume of only 200 liters is not really convincing. The electric motors on offer deliver either 170 or 184 hp. The specified range is between 235 and 300 kilometers. According to the manufacturer, the vehicle has a range of around 200 km in everyday use.

7th place: The Nissan Leaf
This model is now in its second generation of vehicles. The batteries offered have a capacity of 40 kWh or 62 kWh. According to the manufacturer, the ranges are 270 or 385 km. In our experience, however, you can do less than 200 km with the small battery in everyday life. This makes the vehicle suitable for the city, but it can hardly serve as a complete replacement for the combustion engine.

Nowadays there are many interesting offers on the vehicle market, especially in the case of purely electric vehicles. Although these have a higher purchase price, this is currently also often subsidized. In addition, these drives impress with lower maintenance costs, also because fewer assemblies are required.
