StabiliTrak is used as a brand name for stability control in General Motors vehicles used. The systems are installed in Buick, GMC, Cadillac, Opel and Chevrolet models. The system debuted in 1997 with the introduction of the Cadillac Sevillac STS and DeVille models. StabiliTrak is designed to help the driver follow the intended lane on bad roads.

The functional principle of StabiliTrak
StabiliTrak detects whether the vehicle deviates from the intended lane or not. Numerous parameters such as the steering angle, the actual direction of travel and the readings from the ABS sensors are analyzed. As soon as deviations are detected, the system adjusts the vehicle's direction of travel by braking specific wheels.
This system is activated automatically when the engine is started. When the system is switched on, a light illuminates on the dashboard. The system can be switched off if necessary. To do this, press and hold the corresponding button on the dashboard.
